What pudding flavors can I use for ocean pudding cups?

Want to use something other than vanilla pudding? You can use any white or off white colored pudding. Cheesecake pudding is a good alternative option, and there is also a white chocolate that turns out pretty white. I love that the vanilla pudding mixed with the blue gel food coloring gives us more of a blue/green color since the pudding is supposed to represent the ocean, but the whiter puddings will give you a more true blue color, as well. If you were to use like a lemon or banana pudding, you’d likely get a very green pudding, but that could still work!

Where can I buy Trolli Octopus Gummies?

We have the best luck finding different Trolli gummies at our local gas stations, and then we’ve also noticed our local Five Below store has a great selection of different Trolli candies, as well, if you have one of those close by. They are also, of course, on Amazon. You can use Trolli’s “where to buy” page to find different locations near you.

Do I have to use Nilla Wafers?

Nope! You could easily do golden oreos (minus the creme), crushed, or graham cracker crumbs.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas of things you might already have on hand to make these.

Ocean Pudding Cups Directions

To make these pudding cups, start by mixing up your pudding according to the directions on the box. Add 3-4 drops of gel food coloring and whisk again until there are no streaks. Give the pudding a couple of minutes to set.

Next, crush your nilla wafers or blitz them in your food processor. Then, you can start layering the crushed nilla wafers and pudding.

We did wafers, pudding, wafers, pudding, and then on top of the last layer of pudding we added a bit more pudding to one half, and some wafers to the other half to make our “beach”. Then, we decorated with an octopus gummy and a little “umbrella” for the sandy beach.
