Directions:

Step 1: Crush the oreo cookies either by hand, by adding to a gallon ziploc bag and crushing with a rolling pin or something similar, or by adding them to your food processor, and pulsing to fine crumbs.

Step 2: Either in the food processor, or in a large mixing bowl, mix together Oreo crumbs and cream cheese, until well combined.

Step 3: Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper or wax paper, and roll the Oreo mixture into 1-inch balls. Place the balls onto your prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Once all of the mixture is rolled, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set.

Step 5: Meanwhile, microwave and melt almond bark, according to package directions.

Step 6: Once the oreo cookie balls have chilled, dip them into the melted almond bark, let the excess bark drip off of the balls, and return to the parchment paper.

Step 7: After all of the balls have been dipped, melt the red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl on 20 second intervals, stirring well between each session.

Step 8: Add the melted candy to a frosting piping bag, and snip off just the tip of the bag. Drizzle red candy on the oreo balls, and quickly before the candy sets, sprinkle with heart sprinkles. Move the oreo balls to the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Substitution Ideas:

  • You can use white candy melts or melted chocolate instead of the almond bark. White chocolate of course, or semi sweet chocolate chips would be delicious, as well! We love how easy almond bark is to work with, but it can be hard to find in grocery stores.
  • You can also use any color of candy melt. Pink candy melts would also be festive, but use whatever you feel like to make these Valentine’s Day oreo truffles!
  • Use any Valentine’s toppings you like to give your truffles a festive look.

Tips:

  • You can make these into heart shapes by pressing your oreo mixture balls into a mini heart cookie cutter. Then, dip the oreo hearts and decorate just as you would with the original recipe.
  • Don’t have piping bags to drizzle the candy melts? You can also use large freezer bags with the corner snipped off!
