Homemade Dog Treats
My girl loves her treats. We buy a lot, but sometimes it is fun to whip up a little something special for her. I wanted to share this super simple homemade dog treats recipe that she loved. She is kind of picky with her treats, and she gobbled these up, for sure.
Keep in mind if you pup has food sensitivities, these do contain whole wheat flour and milk, so if you have any questions always ask your vet.

Here’s what you need to make these treats-
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup peanut butter
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1 egg
To make them, preheat your oven to 375 degrees, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and flour your surface or flour a sheet of parchment paper to work on.
In a large bowl, combine flour and baking soda. Whisk. Add in egg, peanut butter, and milk, and mix with your hand mixer to combine. This is a thick dough, so if you have a stand mixer it may be easier.
Once dough is combined, plop it onto your floured surface and knead a few times. Roll out your dough to 1/4-1/2 inch thick. Using your fun puppy cookie cutters, cut out your shapes. Lay these on your parchment paper & cookie sheet.
Bake in the oven for 17-18 minutes until treats are beginning to turn golden brown.
These are super easy and they came out perfectly. I was concerned that the dough might spread and my cookie cutters wouldn’t help me get the shapes, but they looked so cute!
Next, you just need a cute dog treat jar to stash your treats in. I would refrigerate these just to be safe, and if you wanted, you could even make just a couple of treats at a time and freeze the rest of the dough. To freeze wrap in parchment paper and store in a gallon size bag. Thaw, and then bake as usual when you are ready.
