Peppermint Hot Chocolate In a Jar Recipe

We love inexpensive homemade Christmas gifts for the holiday season, and with just a few items, you can make more than one of these fun mason jar gifts.

Here’s what you’ll need to make them-

  • ¾ cup hot chocolate mix (whatever is equal to 3 servings of the hot chocolate mix you are using)
  • 3 tbsp. Crushed peppermint candies – these add just the right amount of peppermint flavor.
  • ¼ cup semi sweet chocolate chips (miniature work best and melt better)
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 (16 oz.) Mason Jar – check the dollar store for a great deal on these!
  • 1-2 Candy Canes for tying onto the jar
  • 1 Hot Chocolate Instructions Tag
  • Twine or festive ribbon

Tips:

  • These ingredients all easily come in bulk, so if you want to make more than one, make sure to purchase multiple pint jars.
  • We used Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix, but you can always make your own DIY cocoa mix. If you use powdered milk, your giftees can just mix it with a cup of hot water, or you can make a mix that requires milk (to go with the instructions on the gift tag). For Swiss Miss, you don’t have to buy the hot cocoa packets, you can actually buy a bulk container of the mix!
  • To crush the peppermint candy, add them to a ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin, or something similar.

How to Make the Jars-

Step 1: Print your peppermint hot chocolate gift tags onto thick cardstock, and cut out and hole punch.
