Chocolate Truffle Cupcakes
The holiday season is here! That means lots of gatherings with friends and family, yummy treats, and even more festive fun to be had. Today I’m sharing these Chocolate Truffle Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting. I made the cupcakes with our favorite box mixes, but added a little truffle surprise and topped them with vanilla buttercream frosting from scratch!
These cupcakes turned out so delicious, and so perfect for the holidays, or any time of year. They were so simple and easy to make, plus I added some Lindt Chocolate Assorted Lindor Truffles for an extra special touch. It’s a surprise, which flavor truffle is in which cupcake. That makes these super fun!
Here’s what you need to make the Truffle Cupcakes-
- Your favorite cupcake mixes. I picked chocolate fudge and white cake mixes for a little variety.
- Ingredients from the back of the box, usually oil, and eggs, plus some water.
- Lindt Chocolate Assorted Lindor Truffle Bag
Then, for the frosting you’ll need-
- 3 cups of powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup of butter, softened
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1-2 tbsp milk
Start by preparing your cupcakes. Line your cupcake pan with liners, and get to work. Follow the directions on each box for mixing these, then fill the cups 2/3 full.
Right before they go into the oven, pop a Lindt Chocolate Assorted Lindor Truffle right into the middle of each cupcake. I am obsessed with how much these took our cupcakes to the next level. Follow the baking instructions on your box for cupcakes. Ours cooked at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
I cooled my cupcakes in the refrigerator while I whipped up the frosting. To do that, beat the butter and powdered sugar with your mixer on medium speed. Then, stir in the vanilla and milk and mix well. I used a rubber spatula and folded the ingredients into each other and it came out perfect. If your frosting is too thin, you can add more powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, add just a tiny amount of milk. Stir well again and test your consistency.
Once the cupcakes are out of the oven and cooled, frost them and you are ready to enjoy!
