Halloween Donuts

I’m so excited to share this Halloween Donuts recipe. It’s really three recipes in one, since you can choose if you want spider webs, Frankenstein, or vampire donuts! These are perfect for a Halloween party or fun breakfast for Halloween morning. These cute Halloween donuts are going to be a huge hit for your little ghosts and goblins this year.

Why we love these recipes-

  • We kept each of these so simple by using store-bought donuts. I do recommend using store brand donuts and not Krispie Kreme. While delicious, they are pretty fragile when you have to handle them. We want some donuts that can hold up to decorating. You could also use chocolate donuts!
  • These are so much fun and SO FESTIVE. My boys went crazy over this fun treat.
  • This would also be a FUN activity to do with your kids the weekend before Halloween to let them decorate their own sweet treat.

  • VAMPIRE DONUTS
  • 12 donuts, store-bought or premade
  • 12 sets of vampire teeth
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • Red gel frosting

Instructions

Spider Web Donuts

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, until smooth.
  2. Divide the sugar mixture evenly into 3 separate bowls.
  3. To one bowl, add black gel coloring, whisking, and adding more, as need, to get your desired shade.
  4. Repeat for the other two bowls with the orange and then the purple gel coloring.
  5. Prepare a cooling rack with a piece of parchment paper (or foil or something similar) underneath.
  6. Dip the tops of the donuts into the colorful icing, and let the excess drip off for a few seconds.
  7. Place them face up on the cooling rack.
  8. Repeat for all of the donuts, alternating what color icing you dip into.
  9. Allow the donuts to set so the icing can harden.
  10. Then, melt the melting wafers in a microwave safe bowl, on 30 second increments, stirring well in between.
  11. Once melted, allow the candy just a couple of minutes to cool.
  12. Add the candy to a frosting piping bag, and snip off just the very tip.
  13. Use the candy to make your spider webs, starting with the lines across and then connecting them with little waves to make your spider webs.

Tip: To get an idea of how to do this, trace one with a toothpick first before adding the candy.

Frankenstein Donuts

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, until smooth.
  2. Add a generous amount of green gel food coloring and whisk until the color is incorporated. You can add more gel if needed to get the perfect green shade.
  3. Prepare a cooling rack with a piece of parchment paper (or foil or something similar) underneath.
  4. Dip the tops of the donuts into the colorful icing, and let the excess drip off for a few seconds.
  5. Place them face up on the cooling rack.
  6. As you go, sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on the top section of the donut for Frankenstein’s hair, and then place two candy eyeballs into the frosting.
  7. Allow the donuts to set so the icing can harden, then enjoy.

Vampire Donuts

  1. Place the donuts out onto a cutting board.
  2. To each donut, push a set of vampire teeth into the center. It helps to push the corners of the teeth together as you place the teeth in.
  3. Take the red gel frosting and add just a bit to the back of your eyeball candies, and place them onto the top half of the donuts.
  4. Add some red gel frosting from the corner of the vampire teeth.
