Banana Pudding Pie

We start this recipe off with a premade graham cracker crust, because, hello, easy! We love an easy, delicious dessert. Here’s the full list of ingredients you need to make your own no bake banana pudding pie.

Banana Pudding Pie Ingredients

  • 1 premade graham cracker crust, or nilla wafer crust, if you prefer
  • 1 (3 oz.) box banana cream pudding (instant pudding mix)
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 12 oz. cool whip whipped topping, divided
  • 25 vanilla wafers, divided (we used Nilla wafers)
  • 2 fresh bananas, sliced

Ripe bananas are best in this recipe, though not too ripe, because then they may get brown spots before you finish your pie. We like to use bananas that have a lightly spotted peel, so that they are sweet but still pretty firm.

To make this pie you’ll need a mixing bowl and a hand mixer (or stand mixer, whichever you have), and a cake spatula or butter knife for spreading the pie mixtures out evenly.

Here are the full directions-

Banana Pudding Pie

This Banana Pudding Pie recipe is such an easy dessert with simple ingredients that everyone will love. It takes all the best things about banana pudding and puts them into a pie! For a firmer textured pie, you can also freeze this pie and thaw it for about 45 minutes to 1 hour before serving, or just serve it right from the refrigerator for a cold pie, but not too cold. Whichever you prefer. The frozen option would be great for a Summer barbecue dessert during the warmer months!

No Bake Banana Pie FAQs

What is the difference between banana pudding pie and banana cream pie?

There’s no real difference between a no bake banana cream pie and our banana pudding pie. Most recipes I’ve seen don’t include the cream cheese that ours does, but I feel like this really adds to the stability of the pie. So, you could say that a no bake banana cream pie would have a softer consistency, more like creamy pudding, once it was cut. You could call this recipe a banana pudding cheesecake pie, but cheesecake is basically a pie, so that’s a little redundant.

What is the best way to store this no-bake pie?

For best results, store any leftover pie in an airtight container, like a pie storage container, or you can also cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Of course, keep refrigerated or frozen, if you prefer.

Can I use instant vanilla pudding instead of banana?

Yes! If you want to tone down the banana flavor a bit, or if it is all you have on hand, feel free to sub the pudding in this recipe for vanilla!
