St. Patrick’s Day might not be the biggest holiday, but for us it fits right in there between Valentine’s Day and Easter. I love doing little things with the kids to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and they love these cute and tasty St. Patrick’s Day Brownies. They’re easy to make with a delicious from-scratch brownie recipe, so let’s talk about how to make them.

Homemade Brownie Recipe

These brownies start with a delicious from-scratch brownie recipe, with a little secret ingredient. you could use boxed brownies for this, but you’d be missing out on the satisfaction of making your own fudgy brownies. To make them, you’ll need-

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 16. oz chocolate syrup (the secret ingredient), we love Nesquik
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Then, here’s how to make them.

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.

2. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing in between each addition.

3. Stir in chocolate syrup.

4. Add flour, salt, and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

5. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch pan.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 28-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, careful not to over bake.

While the brownies are baking, let’s whip up the festive green St. Patrick’s Day frosting.

How to make green frosting

You’ll need-

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 tbsp. milk
  • 3 drops green gel food coloring

To make the frosting-

  1. Combine sugar and butter in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Beat, adding milk 1 tbsp at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Add food coloring and mix until smooth and creamy.

4. Spread frosting over cooled brownies.
5. Top with festive sprinkles
6. Refrigerate 2-3 hours to set
7. Cut into squares, enjoy!

  6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 28-30 minutes (Do not overbake).
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Combine sugar and butter in a medium sized mixing bowl.
  9. Beat, adding milk to achieve desired consistency.
  10. Add food coloring and mix until smooth and creamy.
  11. Spread over cooled brownies. Refrigerate until set.
  12. Cut and serve.
